Caneyosketchit

Cane-Yo is an international group of young artists who are well connected online, work in a representational style and exhibit together internationally. They also provide a pool of reference images that can be used by non-members.

In October 2025, Luke Hutchins initiated a competition challenging artists to fill a sketchbook with at least 31 pages in just one month.

I found this initiative inspiring and used this month to experiment with other media, painting in gouache as well as working with pencil, pen and watercolour. I rediscovered an old enthusiasm for portraits, or rather for depicting human emotions with the help of faces and hands. And I found new meaning in painting other people as a human being, especially at a time when technology and artificial intelligence seem to take precedence everywhere.
